How to Recover a Previous Tumblr Theme
Perhaps you want to revert back to your previous theme? Did you mess up the code of your theme and don’t know how to get it back? Tumblr has a recover function that can help you get your theme back
We’ll take a look at how this works, and how you can follow a few steps to get the previous version of your theme back up and running!
Using the Recover Custom Theme Option
If you want to revert back to a previous version of your theme, go to Tumblr’s theme recovery page. You will see a dropdown menu with a list of all your blogs. This is where Tumblr has stored previous version of the theme that’s attached to your blog (in case you accidentally change it or delete it!)
Choose the Tumblr blog that you want to revert the theme for, and click View backups.
You will then see a listing of all the edits you made. If you click the ‘Show Changes’ you will see a code-like view showing in red what was deleted, in green what was added and in blue just a reference to how many characters were added and removed.
Just click ‘Revert’ to revert back to that version and you are good to go.
Don’t forget to save the above link for any future need. And next time you make changes to your Tumblr theme, copy-and-paste the old version and save it somewhere yourself. Just in case! It can be quite a bit quicker than needing to use this recovery tool (even though it’s handy to know it’s available!)
